School life
Life at our school is characterised above all by the exchange between our students*, who learn with and from each other. In order to make this possible from the very beginning, we have introduced the Buddies programme at our school, in which our newcomers are accompanied by students of our school and supported in their first steps.
Later in the school year, IB® Buddies can do homework together, explore Heidelberg or spend their free time together. Who knows -- maybe it will even be the beginning of a lifelong friendship!

Shout out for corona heroes!
Students of the Heidelberg Private School Center would like to say thank you!
It's been a year since we went into the first lockdown, schools had to close and infection numbers skyrocketed. Back then, people clapped for the Corona Heroes, but now some things have been forgotten. No one claps anymore, although the strain and tension on doctors and nurses in the clinics has not decreased. Madelief from the 5th grade of the Bilingual High School of the Heidelberg Private School Center thought that this was not right. That's why she launched an appeal: Paint and write for our Corona heroes. The response was great. Students from different grades participated and also students from the international branch who have just started learning German.
A colorful thank-you book was created, which we now want to hand over together with Madelief to the doctors and nurses of the Thorax Clinic on March 29th at 2:00 p.m. to say thank you for their great commitment.

Experiences of our students
Hang - student at IB
„In the past two years, I have received many things from IB such as useful knowledge,
interesting experiences and unforgettable memories. I attended a wonderful
high school in Heidelberg. I decided to go to Heidelberg with the desire to study
in a peaceful, highly scholarly environment and experience multiculturalism. The
school I attended has a very good teacher team.“
May - student at IB
„While IB has a reputation for being challenging, I would advise potential IB students
not to let that intimidate them. It encouraged me as a student to become
well-rounded, independent and much more organized (especially when it comes
to time management).“
Benjamin - student at IB
“I had to submit my first seminar paper and I have to say ... I am extremely happy
that I have already learned a lot about academic honesty because this made quoting
super easy. I was also very happy I got the chance to choose “Film” during IB.
I am glad that I did the IB Diploma because, in my opinion, it prepared me very
well for university - especially in terms of citation and also in the field of film and
media. The first weeks of the semester were just a lot more relaxed for me and I
could concentrate on other important things.”
Gilang - student at IB
“During my time in IB Diploma, it has made me to be a better risk taker from the start. Starting an intensive 2-year university preparation in a new continent with new environment is a huge step for a 17 years old me. IB Diploma has also made me into a reflective person, as I try to improve my knowledge by knowing what andbwhen I did wrong and how I can do better the next time. Lastly, IB Diploma has made me into a better thinker, as IB often relates with global situation and requires me to be critical when approaching a subject of discussion."
Johanna Seitz - is now studying communication science in Salzburg
“I had to submit my first seminar paper and I have to say ... I am extremely happy
that I have already learned a lot about academic honesty because this made quoting
super easy. I was also very happy I got the chance to choose “Film” during IB.

Philomena Niebergall - is now studying business psychology in Heidelberg
“The benefit of independent work during the IB is noticeable. While other students
struggle to manage their time, motivate themselves to complete tasks without
deadlines, and have difficulties knowing how to structure their studying, the IB
prepared me incredibly well in those departments.“
Experience of our DP1
„This programme is not easy, but we really appreciate that you come towards us and try to make it as fun as possible. For many of us, life has changed positively since we started at this school, as you show us to look after our environment. We thank you for bringing us into contact with the world and the different schools and thus broadening our horizons.”
von Omar, Shanshan, Bohan, Sina, Andrew, Elena, Mahmoud
Experience our PrepClass
„I like how the teachers and students are very kind to each other, and the students
are open-minded and they don’t judge you. I like how there are very fun things
that the school organizes for the students. I also like how the school celebrates
holidays and decorates classes making school fun.“
Harshita, PrepClass
„What I love about this school is that there are various cultures everywhere you
look and everyone is accepted for who they are no matter where they come from.
All teachers and students are welcoming, helpful and kind.“
Niamh, PrepClass
Experience our PrepClass
„I‘m really glad I’m in the international class because there are a lot of subjects
in English. The things we learn about the world around us are awesome and the
teachers are very nice! I really like being an international student.“
Madelief, International grade 5
„You learn good English in the class. Most subjects are in English and we have
nice teachers.”
Emily, International grade 5
„What I like about the school is that it is bilingual. I think that’s great because that’s
the future for us students. The school makes good decisions and offers clubs that
many students like.
Felix, International grade 6
Experience our Years Programme
“The school is great because one can learn so much, like other languages and
concepts, and many other things. Mostly I am a good ‘communicator’, ‘inquirer’
and ‘principled’.”
Emily, Primary Years Programme
Feedback from our parents
"We are writing this letter to express our sincere appreciation for your wise leadership in taking care of the students applying all precautionary measures during the tough times of COVID-19. The travel restrictions, fear of getting sick & being far from our daughter is very hard & worrisome; but through your frequent communications, emails & updates, the HPC team made us feel reassured that our daughter is safe & in good hands.
In the boarding house, we would like to thank Jonas, his wife Isabell & all the supervisors for making our daughter feel at home which enabled her to fast the whole month of 'Ramadan' and a special thanks for Jonas & Isabell's culinary efforts to create a festive mood announcing the end of the this particularly tough month.
If you have further questions, e.g. about the IB® philosophy, please do not hesitate to contact us.
